Vintage BELSTAFF Rubber Black Prince JACKET
This jacket was produced during the 1950s and 1960s by Belstaff and is now a design classic. It was intended to be worn by motorcyclists and is made from a sheet rubber PVC material and has electronic welded seams making it both highly waterproof and windproof. The jacket features a 'Aero' branded zip to the front which is hidden behind a fly which fastens with press studs. Two flapped pockets also fasten with studs, as do the cuffs. The original waist belt is still fitted to the middle through two belt loops,To the rear of the waist belt is a section of 'Scotchlite' reflective material which is a feature of this design. The jacket can be fastened around the neck with the aid of a collar strap and eyelets are located to each armpit to allow for ventilation.
The rubber is In good condition, no holes or serious marks or scuffs. There is a small tear ot the collar (see pics). However it has significant damage to the zip, which is beyond repair, and the buckle for the neck strap is rusty. Some of the press studs are tarnished, but all seem to be in gwo. The inside has some old mould spots and there is no lining. Otherwise the rubber is intact and has no significant outer marks.
The soft and supple nature of the rubber fabric make this a very 'wearable ' vintage jacket - looks great on, and is highly photogenic. Ideal for Film, Theatre or Photoshoot.
