TOMMY HILFIGER

TOMMY HILFIGER is one of the world’s leading designer brands and is internationally recognized for its preppy with a twist design. Hilfiger clothing seems to consistently provide good quality, well-made clothing unlike some of its competitors!

Tommy Hilfiger’s is well known for his modernized versions of button down shirts, chinos, and other classic preppy styles. The casual youthful attitude of these first designs remain a trait of the brand. By 1989 the Tommy Hilfiger brand had changed some of its focus to casual male sportswear.  However, during the 1990s Hilfiger courted the music industry, sponsoring a variety tours (eg Sheryl Crow, Britney and Lenny Kravitz) and creating collections clearly influenced by sub cultures and their music. He designed baggier clothing fitting nicely with the relaxed trend and particularly worn by the hip hop community. His clothes were worn by celebrities such as Snoop Dog and Coolio. 

Since 2000 the company has refocused its appeal on “classic American cool,” and designing the clothes out of New York city. The brand is established worldwide with numerous product lines and collections including men’s, women’s and kids’ sportswear, denim, accessories, and footwear. Founder Tommy Hilfiger remains the company’s Principal Designer and provides leadership and direction for the design process.
